One month in…

Hello everyone! Sorry it’s  been so long since we’ve updated you. We’ve now been here for a month!

Ryan’s job continues to go well. His boss is very happy with him, and he just sent me a message saying that his boss brought in Krispy Kreme donuts! I’m very jealous. Ryan’s been playing basketball with some of the guys during breaks, so he’s slowly getting to know people. His days are getting more and more full as the winter season approaches.
We’re starting to settle into a church. It’s Mars Hill, a mega church with about 10 satellite locations. One of them is only 2 miles away from us, so we’ve started attending there. There are about 8,000 total members, but there are no more than 200 people in the service we attend. Mark Driscol is the pastor. He’s written a few books, so you may have heard of him. The music is live at each location,  but Mark is broadcasted over a live feed. We’ve connected with a community group filled with mostly young couples, so every Tuesday we’re beginning to establish connections. We also continue to hang out with Morgan and Amy and some of their friends. Needless to say, we’re beginning to meet some great people here.
We were able to meet Dan Baker for breakfast on Saturday which was a nice surprise (he was flying in and out of Seattle), and on Sunday we went to Discovery Park. It’s a very large city park that is similar to Acadia (except smaller in size and surrounded by much larger mountains). The Olympian mountains are right across Puget Sound, and we could see Mt. Rainier from there, too. We’re planning on going apple picking on Saturday, but we have to drive 70 miles! I miss the good ol’ Apple Farm!
The job hunt continues. I’ve applied for SO many jobs, and it’s hard to just wait around for people to make up there minds. I have an interview on Friday with a family for a nannying position. They have a 19 month old little girl. We’ll see how that goes.
We miss you all tons!

  1. Denise, Glad that things are going well. I may sound like a hypocrite, but remember as Confucius once said, “Patience is a virtue.” Hope all things are going well for His glory and His timing no matter how frustrating it may be. Love you….I’ve got a crazy week ahead of me, but still keep in touch.
